Diamond Mountain Masonry Premix

Diamond Mountain Products offers a straightforward 50-pound masonry premix product designed for concrete topping and general masonry applications. The Diamond Mountain Masonry Premix delivers half a cubic foot of coverage in each bag, enough for small repair jobs but not major pours.

This isn’t a premium product line with multiple formulations. It’s a single commodity premix competing in the same space as Quikrete’s basic bags. The 50-pound weight and 0.5 cubic foot volume tell you everything about the target market: small contractors and homeowners patching driveways or setting a few pavers.

Applications and Coverage

The premix handles both concrete and masonry surfaces, making it useful for contractors who don’t want separate products cluttering their trucks. Applications include concrete topping on slabs, patios, and driveways, plus general masonry projects with brick, tile, and stone.

Specification	Value
Weight	50 lbs
Volume	0.5 cubic feet
Form	Bagged premix
Applications	Concrete topping, masonry projects
Compatible Surfaces	Concrete surfaces, Masonry surfaces (brick, tile, stone)

At half a cubic foot per bag, you’re looking at 54 bags to fill a single cubic yard. That math alone tells you this product targets repair work, not new construction. Nobody’s pouring a driveway 50 pounds at a time.

Market Reality Check

This product competes against established players with actual technical certifications. SPEC MIX Building Stone Mortars meet ASTM C270 standards. SPEC MIX meets ASTM C270, ASTM C1714, and CSA A179 standards. Diamond Mountain’s product documentation shows no ASTM compliance claims.

Without ASTM certification data, contractors can’t specify this product for code-compliant work. That relegates it to non-structural applications where inspectors won’t ask questions. Fine for topping an old patio. Not suitable for anything load-bearing or below grade.

The installation guidance simply refers users to follow the ‘Premix Mixing Guide’ for Diamond Mountain products. No specific water ratios, no cure times, no strength ratings. Compare that to professional products that specify exact compressive strength targets and water retention percentages.

FAQ

Q: What’s the coverage per bag?

A: Each 50-pound bag provides 0.5 cubic feet of volume. That’s roughly enough to cover 6 square feet at 1-inch depth.

Q: Does this product meet ASTM standards?

A: The product documentation shows no ASTM compliance claims, unlike competing products that clearly state their certifications.

Q: Can I use this for structural masonry work?

A: Without published strength ratings or ASTM compliance, this product shouldn’t be used for load-bearing applications. Stick to surface repairs and non-structural work.

Q: What surfaces will this bond to?

A: The premix works on both concrete surfaces and masonry surfaces including brick, tile, and stone.
