StruXure Pergola X and Cabana X Louvered Roofs and Cabanas Struxure

A StruXure pergola is a motorized louvered roof for your patio or deck, attached to the house or freestanding, and Cabana X is the brand’s standalone cabana. Close the louvers and they seal watertight, with the rain running into a gutter hidden in the frame. It’s for homeowners and for restaurant and resort patios.

Scott Selzer, a former teacher who remodeled basements, decks and outdoor spaces on the side, built his own pivoting-louver system when he couldn’t find one strong and durable enough, and launched Adjustable Patio Covers in 2009. The business grew into a full manufacturer called Arcadia Building Products and became StruXure in 2018. The AZEK Company has owned it since December 2021. StruXure is known for motorized louvered pergolas and modular cabanas.

Pergola X: a roof you open and close

Pergola X puts a permanent roof over the space you already have, and the louvers decide how much of it is roof. Closed, they interlock into a watertight seal, and the water drains into a patented gutter built into the frame that keeps the patio and furniture dry in typical rainfall. Add the optional rain sensor and the louvers close on their own at the first sign of rain, which matters most on the days nobody is home to do it.

Wind works the other way. The sensors open the roof automatically at 60 mph so the wind passes through the louvers instead of lifting them. The mistake to avoid is expecting the roof to clamp shut in a windstorm; open is how it protects itself, so leave the wind sensor active.

If trees hang over the patio, spec the gutter protection built into the Pergola X frame. It’s a mesh with interwoven copper that keeps out leaves, twigs and pine needles, and those are what clog a gutter and put water on the cushions.

Cabana X: shade and privacy on its own footprint

Cabana X is a standalone modular cabana that gives you shade and privacy wherever you set it, as a single unit or a multi-unit MOD. Choose Pergola X to cover a whole patio, attached or freestanding. Choose Cabana X for private seating along a pool, a lawn or a resort deck. Size either one to the space, because a structure too big for the yard makes the whole yard feel crowded.

What a StruXure costs

There’s no sticker price. StruXure prices each system by its footprint, the technology on it and what the install requires. Every system is engineered to the exact pitch, angle and roof geometry of your building, true gabled configurations included, so two patios the same size can be two very different jobs. That’s why the full quote comes at the design consultation with the local dealer who designs and installs it.

You control the number with the decisions you make before that meeting. Custom colors and woodgrain finishes add cost, and so does every sensor, light, heater and screen. Go in with the exact length and width of the space and your list of options, because the price changes a lot with size.

Built to stay up

The frame is extruded, powder-coated aluminum held together with stainless steel fasteners, so there’s nothing to rust and nothing to stain. Upkeep is rinsing it off. StruXure says it’s the only louvered pergola maker with ICC certification, and its ICC-ES report tested the louvers together with the beams, columns and connections for heavy snow loads in northern climates and for high wind. Your contractor can cite that report instead of running custom engineering calculations for your project, which speeds up the permit.

Controls and finishes

The StruXure Bridge is the hub that syncs lights, fans, heaters and screens. The Sidekick is a wireless wall switch for everyday use, the Mate Pro is a wet-rated handheld remote for the patio, and the Breeze Pro sensor reads the weather and adjusts the space for wind or rain. From the app you can schedule the louvers and check the system from anywhere with an internet connection, and connected to Bond, Pergola X takes voice commands. All of it runs on power, so plan the circuit early: a motorized roof usually needs an electrical permit on top of the building permit.

Finishes come in a standard collection, and StruXure will also paint to any sample you bring to match the house trim.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a StruXure pergola cost?

There’s no chart price, so the quickest way to a real number is to settle the design before the consultation. StruXure’s interactive online build tool lets you try custom dimensions and layouts, swap standard finishes for premium woodgrains, and preview accessories like the StruXure Fan and custom lighting. Bring that build to the meeting and your quote covers the pergola you actually want, not a placeholder.

What can you add to a StruXure Pergola X?

The fan runs on a 24V brushless DC motor with five blades and nine speeds, and it draws from the pergola’s own central power supply with the wiring hidden inside the beams, so no cord hangs down. It can also switch on by itself under smart climate rules. For a clean ceiling there’s a dual-wall louver that closes into a smooth, flat surface underneath, pivots 155° and has a hollow, insulated core that keeps moisture from building up.

How is a StruXure pergola installed?

A local StruXure dealer designs each system for its site and handles the install. Because the ICC-ES report already covers the louvers, beams, columns and connections, the design can be adapted to your site without starting the engineering from scratch. Decide on the fan and lights before the frame goes up, because their wiring runs hidden inside the beams, and that is far easier to plan before the install than to add afterward.

How much snow can a StruXure pergola hold?

StruXure says the framework supports 20 to 70 psf of snow load, and the figure depends on the site’s location and elevation. So the same size pergola can be built heavier at a high-country cabin than in a valley town, and the design should be sized for the snow load where it’s going up. The powder-coated aluminum also holds up against corrosion in places with heavy snow and rain.
