RailFX Railing Systems and Cable Kits RailFX

RailFX railing gives builders and homeowners complete aluminum systems or cable kits for decks, stairs, and interior balconies. You can choose cable, glass, or pickets, with installation options that eliminate through-post cable drilling or use tension-fit picket balusters.

RailFX started in 2015 with a complete aluminum cable railing system. The company designs and manufactures railing systems, cable kits, and accessories for interior and exterior applications. It was sold to Nationwide Industries Enterprises in 2018 and subsequently acquired by PrimeSource Building Products.

Complete systems or cable for your posts

Choose the complete aluminum system when the job includes new posts and rails. You can select the infill, top rail, mounting style, and color together. Cable keeps the infill visually light, glass gives you a broad clear panel, and pickets give you a defined vertical pattern. Make that choice from the place you’ll actually sit or stand and look through the railing.

Cable kits and fittings suit a job built around suitable posts of your own. RailFX lists Push-Lock fittings for wood, metal, composite sleeve posts, and single- and double-corner posts. With existing posts, assess their condition and attachment before planning the cable.

Express Mount brackets and FlexFX connections

RailFX Express Mount brackets eliminate cable-hole drilling through wood posts. That’s a practical shortcut on a wood-post job.

FlexFX handles the cable connection with surface-mount Push-Lock fittings. A locking wedge holds the cable, so you can make that connection without crimping or special tools.

Oasis picket railing

RailFX Oasis uses tension-fit balusters for its picket infill. If you prefer the vertical pattern of pickets, that connection method is a useful assembly detail to compare. Work out the assembly sequence using the product-specific instructions before fastening parts.

Lay out the cable before counting parts

Cable tension puts a load on the posts, so settle the post attachments and cable paths first. RailFX requires one tensioning fitting at the end of each cable run. Mark each run and its tensioning end on the layout before counting fittings.

Measuring only the deck perimeter leaves out the repeated cable runs. Add the lengths of every run, then add RailFX’s specified five percent allowance.

Stainless steel needs periodic care

RailFX uses 316 marine-grade stainless steel for its cable, fittings, and cable assemblies. Plan on periodic care; cleaning helps control corrosion, discoloration, and surface rust. Those conditions caused by corrosive exposure fall outside RailFX’s definition of a stainless steel defect. Follow the cleaning requirements and keep pool treatments and ice removal chemicals away from the railing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do RailFX Express Mount brackets mean I don’t have to drill through my wood posts?

RailFX Express Mount brackets eliminate the need to drill cable holes through wood posts. You still need firmly attached posts, because tensioned cable pulls against them. Check existing posts for movement before laying out the cable runs; the brackets won’t fix a loose post.
