Pro-Fit Nails and Screws Pro-Fit

Pro-Fit nails are for framing, finishing, roofing and specialty work on homes and light commercial jobs. Homeowners and contractors have packaged, bulk and collated options to suit the work. Small boxes suit repairs; bulk packs suit repeated work with the same fastener.

Pro-Fit is National Nail’s construction-fastener brand. National Nail is employee-owned. Its building-materials history spans more than 50 years.

Choose the fastener for the connection

The packaged-nail range covers framing, finishing, roofing, masonry, decking and siding. Alongside those nails, Pro-Fit’s packaged screws cover decking, drywall, multipurpose and specialty projects.

Pro-Fit framing nails come in Sinker, Common and Box styles. A thinner shank can make driving easier, but the connection determines the nail you need. Follow the specified nail size wherever the plans or hardware instructions give one.

Shank shape matters when backing out is a concern. Directional rings resist withdrawal after driving by giving the wood something to grip. Use that shank where the application permits it.

For masonry work, hardened steel helps a nail withstand driving into concrete and masonry. Choose for the actual surface you’re fastening into, whether that’s concrete, block or a mortar joint.

Match collated fasteners to your tool

Pro-Fit’s collated nails cover framing, roofing, finishing, flooring, siding and metal-connector applications. They’re designed for tools from multiple brands, so the specific tool match is the check that matters before loading.

Compare fastener length, diameter, head style, collation type and angle with your tool’s accepted specifications. For metal connectors, start with the connector’s specified fastener, then match the tool.

Choose the coating for its job

Vinyl coating helps with driving; zinc plating adds corrosion protection. Treating every coating as though it serves the same purpose is an easy mistake. For outdoor work, match the fastener material and finish to the exposure and the material you’re fastening.

Size the package to the work

Pro-Fit offers small boxes and bulk packs. A small repair calls for a modest quantity; repeated work with the same fastener is where bulk becomes useful. Settle the nail size and finish before committing to a bulk pack.

Length and thickness affect how many nails make up a pound. Estimate the fasteners your job needs, then use the count for the particular nail and package you’re considering.
