DaVinci Slate and Shake Roofing DaVinci

DaVinci roofing is composite roofing for homeowners who want the look of slate or cedar shake. Inspire Slate gives you a lightweight weathered-slate look, and Multi-Width Shake gives you a lightweight hand-split cedar look. Start with the texture that suits the house.

DaVinci Roofscapes makes composite slate and shake roofing, along with Hand Split Shake Siding. Its roofing tiles are manufactured in Lenexa, Kansas, and Metamora, Michigan. The roofing reproduces natural slate and hand-split cedar through textured surfaces and non-repeating patterns.

Slate styles for your home

Inspire Slate is the starting point when you’re after a weathered slate roof on a historic-looking home. It’s modeled from natural slate, and its textured surface and deckled edge reproduce details that matter to the finished appearance. The outline of each shingle contributes to the look along with its color. Judge the surface and the edge together.

DaVinci also offers Single-Width Slate, Multi-Width Slate, and Province Slate. Single-Width Slate includes Aurora and Castle Gray; Multi-Width Slate includes Canyon, Aberdeen, and Brownstone, among other colors. Province Slate includes Slate Gray and Smokey Gray. Keep the line name attached to the color when you’re comparing options.

Shake texture and layout

Multi-Width Shake uses deep grooves, grain patterns, and thick construction to create shadows. Those shadows give the surface depth. Different shingle widths and blends of wood tones contribute to the hand-split cedar appearance.

The layout changes the character of that texture. Straight courses give you a more orderly roof; staggered courses give the lower edges a more irregular pattern. Multi-Width Shake permits both, with either 9- or 10-inch exposure.

DaVinci also offers Select Shake and Single-Width Shake, with Castle Gray identified for Single-Width Shake.

DaVinci describes Multi-Width Shake as resistant to fading, rotting, cracking, and pests. Rot resistance is a practical reason to consider it when you want a cedar appearance. Caring for the roof still includes clearing debris and checking flashing and drainage.

Color beside the house

Pictures are a starting point. The easy mistake is settling on a roof color from a screen before seeing it beside the siding and masonry. Inspire Slate offers blends and mixtures of up to five colors, while DaVinci’s shake blends combine wood tones for natural variation. Make your final color selection from actual shingles, viewed outdoors beside the exterior materials they’ll sit above.

DaVinci Slate and Shake carry a Lifetime Limited Material Warranty, including 10 non-prorated years of coverage against manufacturing defects.

Dimensions that shape the roof

Width, thickness, and exposure affect the finished pattern. Exposure is the portion of each shingle left visible below the course above it. Compare these dimensions along with the surface texture.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is DaVinci roofing made of?

DaVinci roofing tiles use virgin resins fortified with UV stabilizers to help control color and consistency. You get the slate or cedar-shake appearance from the molded texture, rather than from quarried stone or split wood.

Is DaVinci roofing fire and impact resistant?

DaVinci advertises a Class A fire rating and a Class 4 impact rating. Those are useful ratings when you’re comparing roofs, but they don’t make a roof fireproof or immune to hail damage.

Will DaVinci roofing fade?

DaVinci uses UV stabilizers in its tiles and describes its Multi-Width Shake as fade resistant. That means resistance to fading, not a promise that the color won’t change over time.

Can DaVinci roofing be recycled?

DaVinci says every roofing tile it manufactures is recyclable and accepts scraps, cuttings, unused tiles, and used tiles for return to its Lenexa, Kansas, facility. Recycling is a return program, so you need to account for shipping rather than assume the material belongs in local recycling.
