Western Building Components
In 2008, WBC opened a new high-tech state-of-the-art wall panel and truss manufacturing facility at our corporate headquarters location in Columbia Falls that we call Western Building Components. We utilize precision cut-off saws, laser-guided pneumatic nailers, and self-squaring roller tables to ensure the accuracy and quality of our wall panels. Our truss construction relies on computer-controlled saws and assembly tables and all connector plates are pressed with a precision two-stage roller press.
Several of our product aspects that we consider to be green are:
• The overall quality of our assemblies creates inherent durability.
• Our ability to use short pieces of lumber left over from wall production in our trusses limits waste.
• We are familiar with advanced framing techniques when requested.
• Panelization promotes shorter on-site build cycles, which limits exposure of framing lumber to jobsite weather moisture that can cause mold and lumber degradation.
• By using our SmartComponents (trussed headers and sheer panels), better insulation can be achieved and as well as improved lumber utilization
• Delivery fuel consumption is optimized since only the correct amount of lumber is delivered via our panels – no small fill-in orders or return of lumber to our yard is required.
• The little waste that we do inevitably create is shipped over to Plum Creek where it is used to heat their plant.
• We cover and protect from weather our finished product that is stored outside to prohibit degradation and potential mold growth, thereby fostering healthy indoor air quality and durability of your homes.
